March 2020. After weeks of denial about the severity of the COVID-19 epidemic in France, public authorities suddenly implemented strict policies to restrict human contact and movement.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, faced with the exponential rise in cases, mandatory lockdown measures came into effect across the country.

The measures adopted to combat the health crisis were drastic: a requirement to stay at home; a maximum of one hour outside per day, within a one-kilometer radius of one’s residence; bans on visiting recreational areas; closure of “non-essential” businesses and social venues; a prohibition on gatherings.

Initially announced for a minimum duration of fifteen days, these restrictions ultimately lasted fifty-five days in total.

During those eight weeks, I left my home only a few times, solely to buy supplies. Shocked by the sudden turn of events, oppressed by confinement, and overwhelmed by the constant stream of anxiety-inducing images and news, the lockdown became a personal ordeal.

Infection curves, daily death tolls, critical care admissions, patient triage, shortages of tests and masks, conflicting scientific opinions, governmental denial, and errors: the pandemic heightened my anxiety to the point of paralyzing my ability to think and damaging my mental health.

The lockdown was lifted on May 11, 2020.

On May 13, I drove to Aisne, the department of my maternal family. A few minutes after my arrival, I rushed to the wheat and sugar beet fields I had wandered through since childhood. The sensation that swept over me at that precise moment was akin to a first summer swim after long winter months: a rebirth.

Finally free and exhilarated by this return to life, I walked those fields every day for several hours during the three weeks that followed. Cradled by the wind, warmed by the sun’s rays, soothed by the vast open spaces. Without COVID, without restrictions, without masks, without physical distancing, without anyone. Alone, outside.

The series “Alone, Outside” comprises thirty-seven analog photographs taken between May 13 and June 1, 2020, in the Soissonnais natural region.

"Interurbain" is a film commissioned by the Société du Grand Paris, the cultural and artistic directorate of the Grand Paris Express and the cultural center CentQuatre-Paris.

Grand Paris Express is a public transport network project consisting of four new automatic rapid transit metro lines being built in the Ile-de-France region of France, plus extensions of existing lines 11 and 14. A total of 200 kilometers of new track and 68 new stations are to be added, serving a projected 2 million passengers daily.

The film was shot in the Fort d’Issy-Vanves-Clamart-Malakoff future subway station of the Line 15. Line 15 is the central component of the Grand Paris Express. It will be a high-capacity underground rail line providing a new ring line around Paris connecting inner and middle suburbs without passing through the french capital. It is planned to open in phases from 2025 through 2030.

The Société du Grand Paris and the CentQuatre-Paris sought to produce a poetic and enigmatic film that reflects the monumental scale of this ambitious project.

Les Olympiades is a neighbourhood located in the 13th district of Paris. Built in the 1970s as part of national measures aiming to carry out large-scale urban development projects, it bears witness to a period rich in architectural thought.

“The vastest urban development project since Hausmann”, this large complex was at the heart of the ideas and commitments to build a modern Paris. The name of the neighbourhood, Les Olympiades, is a reference to the Olympic Games, and all the buildings have the name of a past host city.

I chose this location for a photo series because I see this neighbourhood as an urban experience which is utterly unique in the Parisian context, in the sense that it incarnates “real Paris” while paradoxically being so little Parisian.

Real Paris because it withholds a diversity which is rare for a complex of this size, and it represents a side to Paris which is gradually being lost in a massively gentrified city.

So little Parisian through its urbanism which has become completely disconnected from the architectural fabric of the French capital: vertical buildings, the widespread use of concrete, square and linear facades, outside surfaces bare of any ornamental creativity, flat roofs. An urbanism which completely clashes with the Parisian aesthetic landscape as a whole.

Real Paris because it remains a quiet and relaxing cluster, where people like to stroll around, think and take their time, away from the constant hustle and bustle of the city.

So little Parisian through its tower and podium architecture, overlooking the city, which completely separates the flow of pedestrians and vehicles, freeing its 11,000 residents from the traffic.

Real Paris because it incarnates the idea of a city standing tall, looking out for the common good, conceiving and inventing new places of opportunity.

The Olympiades series is a collection of 68 film photographs taken between the summer of 2018 and the winter of 2020.

"Atlas" is a music video I directed for the metal band L'Esprit Du Clan, hailing from Seine-Saint-Denis, France. Taken from a split album released in 2019 in collaboration with the Japanese band Cherish, the track marks the final release in the band’s history. The video was shot in the spring of 2019 amidst abandoned houses, deserted factories and sugar beet fields in my deindustrialized yet beloved Picardy.

"On My Way To Somewhere" was created in 2011 at the invitation of the production company Buffalo Corp. The company aimed to produce a collective post-apocalyptic medium-length film titled "Chroniques Des Survivants".

Six directors were invited to contribute to the project, each tasked with creating an independent segment for the film. Two constraints applied to all segments: they had to incorporate a post-apocalyptic theme into their narratives and be filmed in a single day (I met only one of the two constraints).

"On My Way To Somewhere" serves as the opening film of the medium-length feature.
